Chase Cricket Equipment

The Masuri helmet brand was started by Jon Hardy with the creation of the first stainless steel grill which became immediately popular with Test and first class cricketers. Australians, David Boon, Geoff Marsh and Dean Jones were the first to wear the grill in 1987. Commonly known thereafter as the Atherton grill it was then complimented in 1990 by the first lightweight ‘one size fits all’ adjustable helmet – becoming arguably the most popular amongst first class cricketers.

Robin Smith and Jon Hardy then formed Chase Sport in 1997, adding cricket bats, protective equipment and a full clothing and embroidery service. The bats are handmade at the Dummer premises by Dan Swaine.

Chase have been proud to have had two England players on the winter tour to Pakistan, Matthew Hoggard and Sean Udal using their kit to add to the collection of Masuri helmets on show.  Masuri continue to be development leaders with the introduction of the first Titanium grill and a fielding grill, as worn by the England short leg fielders, and a wicket keeping helmet.
